LAKE TAHOE, NEVADA, MAY 22, 2009—Tom Wajnert, a principal with The Alta Group for 10 years, has joined the merger and acquisition practice within this global consultancy to respond to greater demands within North America for representation on both buyer and seller sides of transactions, according to Managing Principal John Deane. Deane said M&A and funding needs are greater today than ever before, yet other M&A service providers have exited the equipment leasing and finance industry in which Alta is solely focused.

Alta’s M&A team now includes Deane, Wajnert, Bruce Kropschot, Joe Nachbin, Mike Fleming and Paul Bent.

Kropschot, an M&A veteran of decades, joined Alta a year ago. Nachbin advises frequently on best practices in due diligence, while Bent is an attorney who has broad experience in litigation and mediation support, as well as in investment banking. Fleming focuses on acquisition strategies and strategic partnering opportunities that may lead to mergers or acquisitions.

Deane who is a founding partner of The Alta Group has worked with lessors and service providers from around the world enabling him to advise on the big picture and determine where and how Alta clients should focus their efforts, domestically and internationally.

During decades of involvement within the equipment leasing and finance industry, Wajnert has managed some 14 financial services company acquisitions. The Alta Group, as a whole, has successfully managed more than 300 transactions involving M&A, debt and equity services and valuations for equipment leasing companies.

Deane said the M&A team is also frequently addressing their clients’ funding challenges, and they draw upon the strength and experience of the entire consultancy, composed of many proven advisors who have led multinational corporations through challenging and transitional times in the past.

"Tom is helping top executives think through strategy, reposition with new ownership and also on how to buy or sell organizations," said Deane. Wajnert joined The Alta Group after retiring from AT&T Capital Corporation, a NYSE-listed, full-service equipment leasing and commercial company operating in 23 countries. He later sold that company and completed the largest management-led buyout in the financial services industry.
