The Alta Group Appoints New EMEA Chairman - Malcolm Ogle Succeeds Derek Soper

The Alta Group, the premier global asset finance consultancy, today announces a managerial change in its EMEA Region. Derek Soper, the longstanding EMEA Chairman and architect of much of the region's success over the last decade, stepped down as a Principal and Director on 31 December. Derek retains his connection with Alta by becoming an Associate.
Derek is succeeded by Malcolm Ogle (pictured), who has been an Alta Principal and Director since 2001 and has more than 30 years' leasing and asset finance experience. A former Joint Managing Director of Lombard Corporate Finance, Malcolm has also held a number of senior management positions with leading asset finance companies, including Rolls-Royce & Partners and PSA Finance PLC. He has established and managed businesses across Europe, working with a variety of global business partners.
Derek Soper said of the changes: "As with all successful businesses, strategy must and should change. I see the future of Alta involving substantial growth and increased specialisation with younger and more vigorous consultants applying themselves energetically and enthusiastically in pursuit of their personal and team goals."
Of his personal aspirations, Derek added: "I want to pursue the more limited advisory 'one on one' relationship roles in a very few specialist areas of the business: M&A; the 'captive' environment of the manufacturer sales financing vehicles; and senior management mentoring in strategic decision making. This will enable me to continue serving some clients whom I have known for many years whilst maintaining my strong links with Alta."
Malcolm Ogle commented: "I am delighted to have been chosen to succeed Derek at a time when we see many opportunities to add value for our clients. Although we are naturally disappointed that Derek will be taking a less active role in the business, we had planned for this. Alta has recently attracted several high-class Principals to expand the business, a trend that we anticipate continuing throughout 2009."
