Carl Chrappa brings unparalleled expertise in equipment management and appraisals to his leadership of The Alta Group’s Asset Management Services practice.

His international experience in equipment trading, appraisals, portfolio valuations and asset management spans more than 45 years. Carl was president and CEO of the nation’s oldest equipment management outsourcing firm, Independent Equipment Company, from 1993 until his company’s merger with Alta in 2013. Earlier in his career he worked for Factory Mutual Engineering Association, International Capital Equipment, TRAC Systems / Signal Capital Corp. — a Henley Group company, and D’Accord Financial Services.

Carl is well known for his contributions to the equipment leasing industry, which the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA) recognized with its Distinguished Service Award. He is a founding member and chair emeritus of ELFA’s Equipment Management Committee, past director of ELFA Business Services, Inc., and the ELFA Service Providers Steering Committee.

A frequent speaker and media commentator, Carl provides extensive equipment research for the annual article “What’s Hot and What’s Not” and is co-author of the book A Leasing Company’s Guide to Equipment Management. He also is a panelist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia’s Livingston Survey, which forecasts macroeconomic changes in the U.S. economy.

Carl holds senior appraisal accreditations with the American Society of Appraisers, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers. He is a member of the National Auctioneers Association, and the National Association of Business Economics, of which he is a two-term national chair of its Industrial/Manufacturing Round Table.

He is a graduate of The University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Managing Director

Kim Esposito is a managing director in the Asset Management Practice at The Alta Group. She is responsible for field inspections and appraisals; portfolio management; sophisticated residual valuations; vendor program and equipment research; equipment consignment sales, sealed bid/ auction sales; special and industry studies; and presentations to professional associations.

Her 23-year career in equipment management includes experience in portfolio management at two bank leasing companies, as an appraiser specializing in rail, material handling and middle-ticket assets; including transportation equipment, high-tech, and industrial equipment.

She has sold numerous types of equipment internationally, including more than 25,000 marine containers for a major container leasing company.

Kim received her Accredited Senior Appraiser (A.S.A.) designation in 1998, and is past president of the A.S.A. Maryland Chapter.  Ms. Esposito has actively served on the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association’s (ELFA) Equipment Management Committee since 2007 and was elected Committee Chair in 2014.  She also served as an elected member of the ELFA’s Credit & Collections Committee in 2011.  She is a graduate of the University of Connecticut at Storrs.
