Melvin Lobo Dinis, senior managing director, is the professional development division practice leader for The Alta Group in Latin America. Based in San Jose, Costa Rica, Melvin has over 15 years of experience in the equipment leasing and financing industry in Central America. A former CEO of Arrendadora Bantec (a leasing company owned by the Banco Bantec S.A.), where he developed the company’s portfolio and implemented processes and practice guidelines, Melvin gained very valuable experience in Central America that led to his further appointment as regional credit manager in Banco Cuscatlan (the largest Central American bank, which is now part of Citigroup). Then Melvin worked developing the equipment leasing units for large private banks operating in the whole Central American region such as Banco Internacional S.A. (BICSA) and Banco Improsa S.A. Most recently, the banks owned by the Government of Costa Rica enjoyed Melvin’s consultancy experience for the purpose of expanding their offerings into the equipment leasing arena. Melvin is a bi-lingual economist from the Universidad de Costa Rica, with an MBA from the same university.
