Managing Director – Country Manager, Peru
Guillermo Palomino, The Alta Group’s country manager for Peru, is based in Lima. He holds a master’s of business administration degree and is an industrial engineer with 28 years of multifunctional experience in Latin American markets, strongly concentrated in commercial and corporate finance. He has developed valuable expertise in equipment leasing, as asset based finance head at Citibank Peru, business head at Sogewiese Leasing, and as founding CEO of America Leasing, all in Peru.
Guillermo also is the founder and president of Access Capital Group, a corporate finance boutique company specializing in mergers & acquisitions and fundraising for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). He serves on the boards of four regulated financial institutions, all based in Peru; two of them belong to U.S. investors and the two others to a Chilean group. He also acts as a director at two non-financial privately held companies.
In previous years, Guillermo was professor of capital markets and SME management courses at two prestigious Peruvian graduate schools, Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) and Escuela de Administración de Negocios para Graduados (ESAN); chairman of the Financial Services Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Peru; founding board member of Procapitales (Peruvian Capital Markets Association), investment head and managing partner for Latam Private Equity Fund, and commercial banking vice president for BankBoston Peru.
“The enormous growth potential of most LatAm equipment finance markets demands organizations and minds that are prepared and willing to adapt swiftly but certainly to new magnitudes and their inherent challenges. All areas of the company, from risk management to funding, back-office to marketing, must be able to grow aggressively and perform soundly, simultaneously. Those who can engage and master both functions will benefit from regional opportunities, growing profitably, either organically or through acquisitions.”
Guillermo’s professional experience in high growth commercial finance companies has developed his strong skills in risk management, strategic planning, long term funding, small ticket transaction management, and capital markets. He has gathered experience both in multinationals like Citigroup and BankBoston (now part of Bank of America) and in medium, family run institutions, and in all of them he has contributed to implementing successful business development strategies for profitable financial services companies. His Citibank experience includes developing the first regional vendor programs for LatAm through Caterpillar and Scania, and his commercial finance experience included significant involvement with vendors and capital markets. His previous growth experience has been of great value in M&A and private equity transactions he has conducted.
Guillermo graduated with high honors from Universidad de Lima and earned an MBA from University of Miami in Florida. He is completely bilingual (Spanish-English), has basic knowledge of Portuguese, and is familiar with most regional markets, having worked in Peru, the U.S., and Argentina.
