The Alta Group

Chuck Thomas, a consultant at The Alta Group, has worked in the information technology and equipment finance industries for more than 35 years. His expertise focuses on the formation and management of vendor and captive finance programs around the world.

Following a successful career in IBM computer sales and branch management, Chuck joined the newly created IBM Credit Corporation in 1983, to establish and lead the group’s financing sales team. He worked there and with IBM Global Financing for 24 years, holding executive leadership positions in sales, marketing, operations, pricing, contract practices, information technology and business transformation. These diverse experiences helped Chuck develop U.S. business partner leasing operations. He also was responsible for numerous sales and channel enablement programs, Internet applications and business transformation programs that spurred revenue growth through IBM Global Financing, IBM and reseller channels.

Prior to joining Alta, Chuck provided asset finance consulting and project management services to IBM executives in 10 Western and Central European countries. He also gained firsthand knowledge of the Chinese market during a one-year assignment in China, where he helped a major Chinese technology manufacturer develop its worldwide sales financing strategic business execution plan. His practical experience in many disciplines, coupled with a global perspective, give Chuck a holistic and objective understanding of vendor and captive finance operations, challenges and solutions.

Chuck has been an active member of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association for many years, serving on its Board of Directors from 2005-07. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles.
