Murray Derraugh has a proven track record in restructuring workflow processes and creating more effective sales teams. He has a unique combination of operation skill in credit, funding and collections coupled with experience in sales management. Murray has effectively lead sales teams, restructured credit and funding departments, turned around ineffective collection teams, and founded a non-conventional equipment leasing division.

Murray’s forte is sharing best practices with lessors through performance process improvement, creation of credit, collection and operation documentation, and lease systems analysis. He has created customized sales training programs, advised clients on the development of credit scorecards, developed business resumption plans, and managed software conversion projects. Murray has performed several due diligence projects on both portfolio and company purchases and has developed RFI documents in addition to managing the vetting and review process of prospective software vendors.

The other common theme I am seeing is lessors and brokers investing in new technology, something that was shelved during the credit crisis. Murray has spent the last several years as a management consultant in his own firm and as a senior vice president of Swandel and Associates, a management consulting firm specializing in lease finance. He previously was a senior manager in portfolio management for CUETS, the MasterCard affiliate for the credit union system that also serviced a major Canadian private label program, in addition to several years with National Leasing Group in a variety of senior roles.

As the editor-in-chief of the Canadian Lease Education On-line (“CLEO”) Murray was instrumental in launching this program for the Canadian Finance & Leasing Association (“CFLA”). He is currently on the CFLA Education & Program Committee and recently was awarded the CFLA 2010 Member of the Year, the Canadian industry’s highest honour, for his work developing an education program for the association.
