Valerie Gerard, a Managing Director in The Alta Group, has worked in the financial services, media and telecommunications industries for 25 years, with deep management expertise in corporate valuation and investor relations. She has worked extensively with the capital markets and rating agencies throughout her career.

Prior to joining Alta, she spent the last several years building her own strategic advisory firm, Intellectual Capital Advisors LLC, in Denver. Earlier, Valerie lived in New York and London while serving as chief investor relations officer for several S&P 500 and FTSE 100 companies, including CIT Group Inc., Cable & Wireless plc, Dow Jones & Company and AT&T Capital Corporation. In addition, she was in charge of the Finance and Leasing Company Group for Fitch Ratings Service, where she analyzed and rated financial services firms and developed due diligence criteria for aircraft securitizations. At Fitch, she published more than 100 pieces of industry and company-specific research. Prior to Fitch, Valerie was a corporate finance associate in the Domestic Banking Group with Chase Manhattan Bank (now JPMorgan Chase). She began her career as a lending officer in the Securities and Commodities Division of The Irving Trust Company.

Valerie’s accomplished career includes being widely regarded as one of the top investor relations professionals in the industry. She is a long-time member and subject matter expert for the National Investor Relations Institute and chaired the Investor Relations Advisory Task Force for the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association for three years. Valerie is a frequent industry speaker and her media credits include The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, to CNBC, Bloomberg radio/television and IR Magazine. She completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School and received a B.A. Degree in Liberal Arts from Vassar College.
