Melisa Carter, a consultant at The Alta Group, has enjoyed a 35-year career in the equipment finance industry, focusing on new market and product development, as well as strategic marketing in North America and abroad. Her work has enabled organizations to achieve their strategic growth and profitability goals.
Prior to joining Alta, Melisa was senior vice president of marketing at Key Equipment Finance. She was a member of the executive team at Key that managed a $6 billion global equipment finance business. Her responsibilities included global branding, vendor program marketing, training and product support, and new market and product development. Melisa championed the creation of a global branding strategy at Key with localized implementation to support sales activities in 25 countries in Western Europe and the Pacific Rim. She also was responsible for Key Equipment Finance’s market and competitive research, sales lead generation, strategic planning and various marketing communications, public relations and internal communications activities. Earlier in her career, Melisa was director of marketing for United States Leasing Corporation and a senior financing associate for Shannon Financial Corporation.
Melisa provides counsel to Alta clients in each of the firm’s core practice areas. They benefit from her extensive knowledge of the equipment finance industry and proven ability to craft and implement effective marketing and product development strategies. Her long-term participation in the industry is particularly valuable as companies face the challenge of meeting strategic objectives in a period of changing market dynamics and a fluid regulatory environment.
Melisa is a former trustee of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Foundation and was recognized at their 25th anniversary board dinner in December 2014 with the Steven R. LeBarron Award for Principled Research – the 2nd such recipient. Melisa continues to serve on the Foundation’s research committee and is a long-time member of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association. In addition, she is a former member of the editorial review board of the Journal of Equipment Lease Finance.
Melisa received B.A. Degrees in economics and business administration, as well as a Master of Business Administration, from St. Mary’s College of California.
