SITUATION

A client company requested a comprehensive business assessment and action plan to address the challenges hindering portfolio profitability. Leadership wanted to focus on the most profitable business opportunities and align resources to support them.

SOLUTION

The Alta Group completed an expense study for each vertical, ticket size segment, and origination channel and analyzed support costs, central services, and overhead. We then conducted a study per FTE and function to provide visibility about new business volume, net earning assets, and revenue. Through this process, we identified specific SG&A related functions that had grown significantly out of alignment and undermined overall company performance. Additionally, side by side peer group comparisons unmasked operational functions that were over-staffed. By working with Alta as the objective independent evaluator, the client received needed evidence and validation to support staffing corrections through reassignment and selective downsizing.
